BUILD: Power Yoga Teaching

This weekend is rooted in the Baptiste Yoga methodology and is designed to ignite and refine your power yoga teaching. "The Baptiste Yoga™ practice and programs are designed to empower you with the focus, training and insight you need to achieve consistent profound results in the most important areas of your life. A potent physical yoga practice, meditation practice and active self inquiry are used as tools of transformation and possibility."

In addition, we'll take a further look at providing clear cues to your students based specifically on what's happening in their bodies. The result of the full weekend is an understanding of the physical aspect of powerful vinyasa and how to use these tools to leave your students in their greatness.

6:15 - 9:30p w Justina Sanford

Let's start at the beginning. Adding heat to practices is nothing new, but to create a powerful practice that leaves you feeling awake and alive requires attention and commitment to your students. In this workshop, we'll poke at the question, "What is power yoga?" and we'll explore the fundamentals of a well-rounded power practice.
NOTE: This session begins with a power yoga practice... come ready to sweat.

11:30 - 3:00p w Justina Sanford

Let's dive deeper. The paradox of power yoga is that it's quite simple. In this session, we explore the road map to guiding a powerful practice and teach you how to bring that practice alive. It won't be anything new that you learn here... but it will be completely different. This session incorporates practice teaching and direct feedback.
NOTE: This session begins with a power yoga practice... come ready to sweat.

4:15 - 7:00p w Justina Sanford
Let's break it down. Every system of yoga has a way of understanding the body. In Baptiste Yoga, we call our system True North Alignment. In this session, we'll look at the philosophy of True North, it's intention, how to cue it, and how it's the guide to possibility throughout the entire practice. This workshop will provide direct experience to learn the concepts presented.

12:15 - 3:30p w Kim Carter

Let's cue. Verbal instruction can be a powerful tool or it can be a distraction. Cuing a yoga class is a practice in itself that involves both reading bodies and giving voice to your own experience within the practice. In this workshop, we'll build our understanding of cueing by exploring the following:
1. Where did you find that cue and what does it really mean?
2. Consider the Why of the pose and what informs it.
3. Does it land?

Practice teaching and exploration will be a part of this session. Please bring a notebook and journal for notes.

4:30 - 7:00p w Justina Sanford
Let's put it together. Physicalness is one piece of the Baptiste Yoga method. In this final session, we'll tack on the pieces of a complete physical practice, including drishti, breath, bandhas, and heat. We'll look at how all of these components work together to create an experience that inspires and transforms.
